Q: With safety being a concern in the nightlife scene, how do you make sure your events go smoothly?Ī: As a good business owner, safety has to be the number one concern. We already currently have a Latin music night and will continue to cater to all different demographics. We want to feature all types of genres and cater not only to the young college crowd but also the older mature crowd, too. I want to make this a go-to spot for live music entertainment. I would have people coming up to me asking if I was Bubba (laughs), so I think it was just time for a change. When I first acquired it from the owner we decided to keep things running under the name. The reason I changed it was because the name Bubba’s just wasn’t doing it for me anymore. Why?Ī: Yes, I will be changing the name to Club Reminisce. Q: So, I heard you are thinking about changing Bubba’s name soon. That’s never good business and many times burns good relationships. Many just put up some money and if they don’t have a good turnout they will try and re-negotiate with the artist on a lower price. Many promoters do it backwards and don’t have enough overhead money to make sure that everybody gets paid regardless of how the turnout may be. I built my business on integrity, so when it comes to making sure everybody gets paid, it’s never an issue. Q: What has made you so successful over the past three decades?Ī: My reputation has always been good with people I work with. So I would book big name artists and do concerts for the airmen, usually hour-long shows. Q: What type of music events were you doing at that time?Ī: I’ve done events all over but one was a government contract. I did the regional events for Def Comedy Jam and Comicview and booked people like Kevin Hart way before anybody knew who he was. I started out booking music acts and concerts then eventually switched over to doing more comedy. Q: How long have you been the entertainment business?Ī: I’ve been in business for more than 30 years, doing events from Philly all the way down to D.C. talked to us about his 30-year history in producing events, what makes a successful promoter and the future of Bubba’s.
